BREAKING: Bellarmine Mugabe, co-accused abandon bail application

Incarcerated, Bellarmine Mugabe and his co-accused have abandoned their bid for bail after their legal team requested that the matter be referred to trial for a plea.
They are no longer applying for bail and will remain in custody until March 17.
A plea and sentence agreement, governed by Section 105A of the Criminal Procedure Act, allows the State and the accused person to negotiate a resolution to a criminal case without proceeding to a full trial.
This agreement involves the accused person, represented by their attorney, agreeing to plead guilty to the charges in exchange for a negotiated sentence.
The agreement aims to expedite the legal process, reduce the court’s burden, and reach a mutually acceptable outcome.
In simple terms, they want to resolve the matter early by pleading guilty and requesting a lesser sentence.
This will be negotiated between them, the State, and the Judge.
Bail was unlikely to succeed due to the fact that the State had already indicated that they are in the country illegally.
