Winky D’s emotional letter to his Fans

Winky D has won the National Merits Awards People’s Choice Award for the tenth time. Affectionately known as “The Gafa” by his legion of fans, he has remained one of the most beloved artists, outshining all his rivals nominated in the same category.

Running under the theme “Fearless Creativity,” the 24th edition of the NAMA received a robust response from the creative community, with a total of 2,382 submissions.

As is often the case, Winky D competes closely with Jah Prayzah, and it seems the NAMA team purposefully placed the two in the same category.

Winky D clinched the People’s Choice Award, marking his 10th victory and extending his record-breaking run in this category.

His previous wins occurred in 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2022, 2024, and 2025, making him the most decorated artist in the awards’ history.

Nominated in four categories, Jah Prayzah took home the Outstanding Male Artist award and the Outstanding Album award for “Ndini Mukudzeyi.”

Winky D also won the Outstanding Music Video award for “Fake Love,” directed by Jusa Domentor.

Ultimately, both Winky D and Jah Prayzah walked away with two awards each.

The competition for Outstanding Song of the Year sparked debates long before the winners were announced.

In a post on his Facebook page, Winky D expressed:

“To the Gafa Nation and every soul that has ever stood with me:

“In this life, there are moments when even the most heartfelt words fall short of conveying the eternal gratitude in my heart. This is indeed one of those moments.

“To be voted NAMA People’s Choice for the 10th time is no longer just an accolade; it has transformed into a mirror that my musical family holds up, reflecting that the message in my music remains alive and well within your souls.

“Music should serve as a moral arena that, after everything falters, provides soul and strength to the heart.

“ My music shall forever strive to uplift those burdened by life’s challenges.

“This award tells a story of resilience that exists within you during everyday struggles, creating hope and unbreakable tenacity as you navigate daily hardships and rise each morning, filled with hope.

“In every song I reflect on through my lyrics, I aim not only to introspect on my own life but on our shared experiences as the ‘have-nots,’ whose dreams are often silenced and tempted to view themselves as disposable statistics. Your votes are a testament to the ongoing need for this introspection.

“My duty, as long as I hold the mic and you identify with this journey, is to continue being a vessel.

“I am deeply grateful for your trust in me to narrate your stories, your struggles, and your votes. From the depths of my heart, as long as the subalterns still feel the music, I will never betray the message.

“A big respect to Jusa DeMentor for being the architect behind the techno heartbeat of the “Fake Love” video.

“You created a mirror that reflects how digital illusions can never drown true emotion and authentic souls.

“More than the views of the song, I cherish your unwavering vision. To my musical family, your support turned the video into a powerful statement.

“I thank you.”
