Chido Maenzanise claims another gold medal in Zambia

Zimbabwe’s powerhouse, Chido Maenzanise, continues to make headlines after clinching her 27th medal at the recently concluded Zambia Strongman competitions over the weekend.

Recognised as Africa’s strongest woman, Maenzanise has also garnered two bronze and three silver medals from various international events.

This latest achievement marks her 22nd gold medal, following a recent victory in Botswana.

Additionally, she has qualified for the South Africa Strongman Championships scheduled for October this year.

Other notable performances came from Vimbai Goba, who earned a commendable silver medal, while Trevor Chingosho showcased his strength by finishing fifth in the men’s category.

“I’m thrilled to have won my 27th medal and to qualify for the African Strongest Man 2025, which will take place in South Africa this October,” Maenzanise shared.

“I want to express my gratitude to the Ministry of Sports and our sponsors for their support in helping me compete.”

She acknowledged Zambia’s strongman legacy, mentioning, “Zambia has the world’s eighth strongest man and ranks fourth and tenth in the women’s category.

“I came here with some apprehension, not expecting to win gold due to the level of competition.

“The standards were incredibly high, with two days of events that were part of world competition preparation.”

Maenzanise expressed her joy, stating, “I’m happy and thankful to God.

“Now, my focus shifts to the upcoming African and world championships.

“I believe there is still room for achieving even greater heights if sponsorship continues.”

Knowledge ‘Knox’ Musengi, president of the Strongman Federation of Zimbabwe, praised Maenzanise’s success.

“Chido Maenzanise took home the gold, while Vimbai Goba earned a well-deserved silver. Trevor Chingosho also demonstrated great strength, finishing fifth in the men’s category. “These athletes have made our nation proud with their remarkable performances in the Zambia Strongest Man and Woman competitions.”
