A student from Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), Panashe Mwinga, died in a car accident on Thursday evening, the same day she graduated with her first degree.

She had just received a Bachelor’s degree in Visual and Multimedia Communication.

The graduate was travelling with her family back to Harare after the graduation ceremony when tragedy struck in the Mapinga area, near the Gwebi River.

Her father, an engineer, was driving the vehicle, and he was accompanied by his wife and their 8-year-old daughter.

In a statement, Minister of External Affairs, Information and Publicity Marlvin Saint Madanda declared September 1 as black day.
