A Gokwe rapist has been sentenced to 90 years imprisonment for raping his employer’s three minor girls in his room on six different occassions.
The suspect Markwell Machena, aged 18, of Village Machena, under Chief Nemangwe in Gokwe South was employed as a domestic worker by the mother of the children.
She had three daughters, aged 6 and 7.
He was taken to Court on April 1, where he was tried and convicted, for six counts of rape.
He was sentenced to 90 years imprisonment by Gokwe Magistrate Stanley Mbanje.
The sentence to 90 years cumulative of which count one and two will run concurrently.
While count three to six also run concurrently and he will serve 45 years effectively.
The State was represented by public prosecutor Tekera Fatuma.
In a statement, Midlands Province police spokeseperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said:
“It is alleged that during a period extending from March 20 to 30, Markwell would lure the girls with mega snacks into his bedroom. “While inside his room he would tie their legs and hands with ropes and rape them one after the other.
“Matter came to light after their mother found them naked in the employee’s room and they revealed that they had been raped.
“She had seen the suspect a few minutes earlier, leaving the room.
“The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was arrested.”
