Zimbabweans watching too much pornography

Zimbabweans are watching too much pornographic material on the internet, an official has said.

Speaking during an interview with ZiFM’s Stereo news crew in Gweru, POTRAZ CIRT & Enforcement Deputy Director Evidence Mazhindu said, the visits are as a result of idleness.

Mazhindu said, there is a need for more practical channels to help young people stay away from idleness.

Zimbabweans are top in visiting betting sites and Facebook something which has been related to idleness.

He was speaking on the sidelines of a Sensitisation and Awareness Workshop on the Cyber and Data Protection Act.

“Top ten websites that Zimbabweans use and top 30 Mauritius use and it has the highest security posture in Africa.

“Zimbabwe we were currently on number 8, but we are improving through the Government initiatives.

“If you notice Mauritius’ top ten websites, two of them are research-based.

“In Zimbabwe, we need to have a lot of grounds, they have time and resources to work on these researches,” he said.

“Obviously an idle mind is a devil’s workshop and we need a lot of research grants to scout talented students.

“We need a lot of practical channels and conduits where they contribute to national efforts, governmental efforts, and educational efforts as well.

“And it can be done. Remember security is not an individual thing, it’s a group thing.

“Our top ten sites in Zimbabwe right now, if you google them, its betting, pornography, and Facebook.

“Where are we going, the youngsters are idle.”

What the passive tolerance of immodesty does is destroy the work of discipleship, particularly where young men who are struggling with pornography are concerned. It, as it were, “fans into flame” the dimming fires of illicit desire. This is even worse if it is the older women whose conduct and apparel are unbecoming of Christian women. How can the young men possibly view the older women as mothers when the dressing communicates something else? Could this be one of the reasons why Zimbabweans are rated as one of the top countries with the most traffic on porn sites? […]
