Guruve serial offender Anymore Zvitsva (35) has been sentenced to an effective 89 years imprisonment by the Harare Regional Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to 10 counts of rape, attempted murder and robbery.
The offender had become a fugitive who terrorised communities in Guruve between October and December 2025.
He appeared before the courts facing a string of violent offences committed against vulnerable victims, including a 14-year-old juvenile and a 62-year-old woman.
The 35-year-old pleaded guilty to all 10 counts last week when he appeared before Harare regional magistrate, Francis Mapfumo.
The convict carried out a calculated and brutal campaign of attacks in which he used weapons, shoelaces and snare wire to subdue victims before dragging them into bushes and mountainous areas where he committed the offences.
In some cases, he stabbed victims in the neck, chest and abdomen, while in others he strangled them until they lost consciousness.
The offender also committed violent robberies and unlawful entries, targeting sleeping families at night while armed with dangerous weapons, including a machete.
The reign of terror came to an end on  January, 3, 2026 when the police arrested him.
Meanwhile, Zvitsva is still awaiting indictment before the High Court on murder charges allegedly committed in the Guruve area during the same period.
Following the sentence, some people are even suggesting that a punitive punishment such as the death penalty is ideal for the convicted.
Some sections of social media have regretted the 89 years in jail that had been given to convicted rapist Anymore Zvitsva after being found guilty of rape, attempted murder, and robbery.
