Details of a Zimbabwe Prison and Correctional Service officer who killed his wife and pregnant daughter have emerged.
The incident, which occurred on May 3, has left the Kadoma community shocked and seeking many answers.
Police have since confirmed the murder cases and the arrest of Obert Namurokosi (45), which occurred in Victory Park, Kadoma.
He reportedly killed his wife, Cynthia Namurokosi (45), and daughter Takudzwa (23), who was nine months pregnant.
“The suspect allegedly had a domestic dispute with his wife, Cynthia Namurokosi (45), who sought refuge at their daughter, Takudzwa Namurokosi (23)’s residence on May 2.
“On the following day, the suspect reportedly followed her there, armed with a kitchen knife, and attacked both victims.
“He allegedly stabbed his daughter, who was nine months pregnant, multiple times before turning on his wife, whom he stabbed on the neck.
“Both victims succumbed to the injuries,” said police in a statement.
However, Zimdailyjournal has established that after committing the offence, Obert handed himself to the police.
It is reported that they had a misunderstanding with his wife prior to the incidents.
Our close sources stated that the major conflict emerged from an issue where the wife, Cynthia, told him that the daughter, Takudzwa, was not his blood.
This came after she was married, and a lobola of around US$9,000 was paid.
“He handed himself over to the police after he had killed his wife and daughter.
“Sadly, it is reported that they had an altercation in which the wife told him that Takudzwa was not his child. While the issue infidelity also arose.
“That angered him, since she said, uda kudya mari yemwana asiri wako (you want to enjoy lobola on a child who is not yours),” said the source.
However, another inside source said they had other issues before the lobola case.
“This guy is a Mathematician, and he has been lecturing and mentoring people. So he urged his wife to go to school with his support.
“He is a retired prison guard.
“He met his wife, who had no academic history, she had not even a single subject at O Level.
“He helped her to study through supplements, and she managed to acquire some subjects.
“Since he had a senior rank, he organised a job for her within the service before they transferred to Karoi.
“The issue came when he resigned and ordered his wife to also seek a transfer letter back to Kadoma, but she refused.
“That didn’t go down well with him,” said the source.
Added the source:
“The incident of his wife refusing to transfer didn’t go down well with him since they exchanged words.
“So, it looks like this man had many issues within his heart.
“Anga akadumbirwa and worse pakazonzi mwana haasi wake, it even triggered his emotions.
“This is premeditated murder because he followed the victims in Ngezi where they had escaped to seek refuge.
“He killed all the victims at his son-in-law’s house.”
Meanwhile, another source said he has been an abusive man.
“This man has always been an abuser, allegedly.
“He abused his wife for years, akambosungiswa nemwana wake waauraya iyeye nenyaya ye abuse.
“Saka nyaya ye infidelity iyi might be a lame excuse.
“Also this man akambosungwa zvekare arova mumwe mukadzi asiri wake.
“He is a violent, weak, and sick man.
“Anga agara achida kuvauraya.
“He failed, and he is a failure.
“What was his motive kutevera munhu apotera kumba kwemukuwasha.
“I cry for Mai Takudzwa had she known kuti zvichasvika apa, dei wakaita walk away when it was still physical abuse nekuti hapana rudo rwakadaro, rudo harirove.”
