Police have reported three different cases of death, with two miners killed after being trapped, and a 52-year-old woman died after being attacked by a crocodile while fishing.
The police also reported another case where two people died after a truck carrying 15 congregants rammed into another stationary truck.
In a statement, police confirmed these incidents.
“The ZRP confirms a fatal mine incident in which two miners were killed after being trapped in a shaft on May 1, at Mutowe Shaft, Elvington Mine, Gadzema, Chegutu.
“Six other miners escaped while one miner was injured. Meanwhile, a woman (52) died after being attacked by a crocodile while fishing at Mpopoma Dam, Matopo National Park on May 1.
“The ZRP also confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on May 2, at around 6.30 pm at the 72-kilometre peg along Chivhu-Nyazura Road at Mapisa curve near Muzadzi Business Centre, Buhera.
“Two people were killed while two others were injured when a Mitsubishi Canter truck carrying 15 church congregants rammed into the back of a stationary Iveco Lowbed Haulage truck, which had developed a mechanical fault.’
