Conservationist Chinoda nominated for prestigious animal award

Zimbabwe’s conservationist Advocate Ever Vimbayi Chinoda has been nominated for the prestigious Animal Action Awards in the Women in Conservation category to be held in London today.

Advocate Ever Chinoda is the founder and Director of Speak Out For Animals, which was founded in 2017.

She has been nominated for her outstanding achievements and contributions to animal conservation, wildlife law, rescue, and welfare in Africa.

She also introduced wildlife law at Herbert Chitepo Law School as well as the introduction of a diploma in wildlife law and policy.

In Zimbabwe, Advocate Chinoda continues to make an impact on wildlife conservation through the training of 139 prosecutors,80 investigators, and police as well as 20 magistrates in wildlife law.

She developed a rapid response guide on wildlife crime in Zimbabwe for prosecutors and investigators, and is lobbying for the establishment of specialised wildlife courts.

Through her passion for wildlife, Advocate Chinoda was consulted and successfully lobbied on behalf of Painted Dog Conservation for the painted dog to be upgraded from a problem animal to a specially protected species (SPA).

In a statement, the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) who are the host, confirmed the nomination.

The event, which will be held at the BAFTA Head Quarters is hosted by the international fund for animal welfare, (IFAW).

It celebrates individuals and organizations that have made significant contribution to animal welfare and conservation globally.

The founder and director of Speak Out for Animals (SOFA) Advocate Chinoda has been nominated among 140 others from 26 countries drawn from.

Awardees hail from across the globe, from Kenya to Zimbabwe, from Belize to Mexico and Canada, from United Kingdom to China and Indonesia each has left a unique mark in the welfare of animals.
