Police have arrested a Chivhu man after he killed another man before attempting to kill another, accusing them of spreading rumours that he was dating several women in the village.
The police confirmed the arrest of Never Nhire (74) in connection with cases of attempted murder and murder which occurred at Mudavanhu Village, Chivhu, on February 20.
The suspect allegedly stabbed the complainant once on the head with an okapi knife, accusing him of spreading rumours that he was engaging in relationships with several women in the village.
It is alleged that the complainant managed to escape from the scene and was referred to Nharira Clinic, where he is reported to be in a stable condition.
After the attack, the suspect then proceeded to Itai Chidangure (62)’s homestead, where he stabbed him once on the neck over the same allegations.
Itai Chidangure died at the scene.
His body was taken to Chivhu General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.
