O Level results out…pass rate at 35.26 percent

209 810 candidates wrote 5 or more subjects

Of these, 73 978 passed, translating to an overall national pass rate of 35.26%.

The Zimbabwe School Examinations 2025 November Ordinary Level examination results are out, with 73 978 passed, translating to an overall national pass rate of 35.26 percent.

Announcing the results today, Zimsec Chairperson Professor Dr Paul Mapfumo said the examination results will be available online today, Friday, January 16, 2026, through the ZIMSEC portal link https://results.zimsec.co.zw/using the candidate’s details on the Statement of Entry.

The link will redirect candidates to their respective regions and the portal on which they can access their results.

Please note that the portal will be open for 5 days; thereafter, candidates should access the results from their respective Examination Centres.

Heads of Examination Centres are advised to collect their results from their respective Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education Provincial Directors from Monday, 19th of January 2026.

Candidature and Pass rates

A total of 302 066 candidates sat for the November 2025 Ordinary Level examination as compared to 291 341 candidates who sat for the same examination in 2024.

There was an increase of 10 725 in candidature, translating to a percentage increase of 3.68.

In the November 2025 Ordinary level examinations, a total of 209 810 candidates wrote 5 or more subjects.

Of these, 73 978 passed 5 or more subjects with a grade C or better, translating to an overall national pass rate of 35.26%.

In comparison, 199 669 candidates who wrote 5 or more subjects in November 2024, with 66 130 passing 5 or more subjects with a Grade C or better, yielding a percentage pass rate of 33.12.

The national pass rate for 2025 increased by 2.14% from that of 2024.

School Candidates

The total number of school candidates who sat for the November 2025 Ordinary-level examinations was 200 347.

Of these, 175 893 candidates wrote five or more subjects with 62 653 obtaining Grade C or better in 5 or more subjects, yielding a percentage pass rate of 35.62.

In comparison, a total of 199 270 candidates sat for the November 2024 examinations. Of these, 171 695 sat for 5 or more subjects, with 57 860 obtaining a Grade C or better in 5 or more subjects, resulting in a percentage pass rate of 33.70.

This translates to a percentage increase of 1.92 in the pass rate for school candidates in 2025.

Private candidates

The total number of private candidates who sat for the November 2025 Ordinary level examinations was 101 719.

Of these, candidates who wrote 5 of more subjects were 33 917 with 11 325 obtaining Grade C or better in 5 or more subjects, yielding a percentage pass rate of 33.39.

In comparison, 92 071 candidates sat for the November 2024 examinations. Of these, 27 974 candidates wrote 5 or more subjects, with 8 270 obtaining a Grade C or better in 5 or more subjects, resulting in a percentage pass rate of 29.60.

This translates to a percentage increase of 3.79 in the pass rate for private candidates in 2025

Female candidates

The total number of female candidates who sat for the 2025 Ordinary level examinations was 162 429.

Of these 110 786 wrote 5 or more subjects with 40 225 passing 5 or more subjects, translating to a percentage pass rate of 36.31.

In comparison, the total number of female candidates who sat for the 2024 Ordinary level examinations was 154 391.

Of these, 104 930 wrote 5 or more subjects with 35 203 passing 5 or more subjects, yielding a percentage pass rate of 33.54. This translates to a percentage increase of 2.77 in the pass rate for female candidates.

Male candidates

The total number of male candidates who sat for 2025 Ordinary level examinations was 139 635.

Of these, 99 022 wrote 5 or more subjects with 33 752 passing 5 or more subjects, translating to a percentage pass rate of 34.09.

The total number of male candidates who sat for the 2024 Ordinary level examinations was 136 950.

Of these,94 739 wrote 5 or more subjects with 30 937 passing 5 or more subjects, yielding a percentage pass rate of 32.65.

This translates to a percentage increase of 1.44 in the pass rate for male candidates.

Special Needs candidates

A total of 326 special needs candidates sat for Ordinary level examinations in 2025. Of these, 175 wrote 5 or more subjects, and 65 passed 5 or more subjects, yielding an overall percentage pass rate of 37.14.

In comparison, a total of 251 special heeds candidates sat for examinations in 2024. Of these 160 wrote 5 or more subjects and 57 passed 5 or more subjects yielding an overall percentage pass rate of 35.63.

The 2025 pass rate for special needs candidates increased by 1.51%.
