Five family members have been arrested in Guruve after they allegedly killed a relative whose body was found in deckmposing state.
Reports are that the victim was allegedly after a dispute over chieftainship.
Police national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of Kelvin Katuruza Chaora (26), a male juvenile (16), Chemika Gwenzi (33), Bvumbe Mandeya (35) and Ranwes Chaora (58) in connection with a case of murder involving the death of their relative, John Chimana Chaora (54) in Guruve.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police informs the public that the suspects were arrested after a tip-off had been received on December 28, 2025, linking one of the suspects, a male juvenile (16) to the case, following the victim’s missing person’s report.
“The juvenile implicated Kelvin Chaora, Allicious Bvumbe, Chemika Gwenzi and Bvumbe Mandeya, leading to their arrest and the subsequent recovery of the victim’s cellphone and pair of shoes.
“On December 31, 2025, the suspects led the Police for indications leading to the location of the body which was in an advanced state of decomposition near Ambush Dam, Kazunga Village, Guruve.
“Kelvin Chaora later implicated Ranwes Chaora alleging that he had masterminded the murder following a dispute with the victim over a chieftainship position which the victim was reportedly due to assume.”
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that investigations are still underway with a view of arresting Anymore Zvitsa who is being sought in connection with several murder cases recorded in Guruve.
The monetary reward offered by the Commissioner-General of Police, Stephen Mutamba still stands.
