A suspected robber in Kadoma reportedly shot and killed a police officer on duty after pretending to report an assault case.
The motive behind the crime remains unclear, but some sources speculate that it may have been an act of revenge.
Reports indicate that the suspect was among a group of suspected robbers who had exchanged gunfire with detectives earlier.
“Hanzi, detectives went to the location where this suspected robber and his associates were staying.
“They exchanged gunshots.
“The detectives were accompanied by an uniformed officer identified as Matutu, and one of the suspects managed to escape from the scene,” said a source.
“He then went to the charge office, pretending to file a police report regarding an assault.
“While the officer identified as Muchechesi was taking down the report, the suspect shot him in the waist.
“Despite his efforts to escape, the victim died just a few meters from the scene, behind the police station.”
Another source added,
“Homicide detectives had stormed the robbers’ hideout, and one of the suspects escaped while naked and armed with a gun.
“He went straight to the police station where he shot the officer.
“The motive remains unknown.”
