Nine arrested with drugs worth US$68000

Police have arrested nine drug peddlers who were found with drugs worth US$68 000.

In a statement, Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirm the arrest of, Charles Kakomwe (34), Priscilla Chakacha (32), Rhoda Mazoro (49), Ngonidzashe Mbundire (19), Terence Zvikwete (25), Pasco Muvhazhi (34) Denzel Lejala (20), Owen Kadzomba (18) and Prince Katsande (18) in Harare on October 18, during midnight raid.

“The suspects were intercepted while receiving the contraband at Aspindale Truckshop, along Highglen way, Harare.

“The police recovered 300 kilogrammes of dagga packaged in various plastics and food stuffs, which include Zapnax, 3 120 bottles of Astra Pain and 4 600 bottles of Broncleer Cough Syrup.

“The drugs and substances are worth US$ 68 000.00.

“The police have since impounded a Nissan Caravan vehicle (AFL 2986), Kombi (AGY 4687), Honda Fit vehicle (ADT 6539).

“Preliminary investigations show that the drugs were smuggled from neighbouring countries.”
