TWO MEN, AGED 63 AND 50, HAVE BEEN JAILED FOR RAPING MINOR GIRLS.
THE TWO WHO APPEARED SEPARATELY BEFORE THE MAGISTRATES COURT, WHERE THEY WERE FOUND GUILTY OF RAPE CHARGES.
The 63-year-old from Hwange was slapped with a 15-year jail term by the Hwange Magistrates’ Court for raping a grade 6 pupil.
It was proved that on July 25, at 7 pm, in an area under Chief Nekatambe, the rapist entered the bedroom of the 12-year-old victim.
He coerced her into having sexual intercourse with him for money.
He undressed the victim and raped her.
The offender was disturbed by the victim’s brother, who was heard whistling outside and caught them red-handed.
Upon being questioned, the victim revealed the incident to her mother and a report was made leading to the arrest of the offender.
Meanwhile, the 50-year-old was jailed for attempted rape
He appeared before Chipinge Magistrates’ Court, where he was sentenced to an effective 15-year jail term for attempting to rape an 11-year-old  girl.
The Chimanimani man stays in the same compound as the victim.
On September 20, at around 12 pm, he found her in the kitchen and grabbed her before closing the door.
He then throttled the victim and forcibly removed her clothes, and was interrupted by a neighbour who had visited the homestead.
The victim later narrated to her mother the incident, and a police report was made, leading to the arrest of the offender.
