Felicitus Farai Ngubo, a renowned entrepreneur and CEO of Happy Homes Care Services in Zimbabwe, has attended the Neurology, Addiction, and Dementia World Conference in the United States of America.
As a leader in the care services industry, Ngubo has been at the forefront of promoting quality care for individuals living with dementia in Zimbabwe.
During the conference, Ngubo highlighted the importance of professional caregiving in managing dementia symptoms and enhancing the overall quality of life for patients and caregivers.
“Quality caregiving is essential not only for managing the symptoms of dementia but also for enhancing the overall quality of life for both patients and their caregivers,” she emphasised.
She also pointed out significant challenges posed by misconceptions about dementia in many African communities, including Zimbabwe.
“Many people mistakenly attribute the symptoms of dementia to witchcraft instead of recognizing them as genuine medical issues,” she said.
“This harmful labeling exacerbates the mental health challenges faced by the elderly, isolating them further within their communities.”
