Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – September 10, 2025 – Chenhaka Trust, in partnership with Connect for Culture Africa, RUST, and AKA Lives, is calling for applications from passionate young Zimbabwean culture actors for a transformative 7-day residency programme. The residency aims to empower the next generation of cultural leaders, artists, and innovators in Zimbabwe.
The Young Culture Actors Residency, scheduled from October 26 to November 1, 2025, in Bulawayo, is an immersive programme designed to nurture the creative talents of emerging artists, cultural entrepreneurs, and creative practitioners aged 18-35 from across Zimbabwe.
The programme focuses on fostering artistic exchange, collaboration, and innovation while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the arts.
“This residency is an incredible opportunity for young culture actors to boost their business savvy, connect with peers and mentors, and shape the future of Zimbabwe’s vibrant cultural sector,” said a representative from Chenhaka Trust.
The curated programme includes workshops, master classes, and discussions with industry experts and peers.
Twelve performing artists (theatre and dance) from all provinces of Zimbabwe will be selected to participate.
Three artists will be selected from Bulawayo Province, which will host the residency, and the other nine provinces will contribute one artist each.
Participants will master essential skills in cultural entrepreneurship, intellectual property, digital marketing, and financial management for the creative sector.
They will also have the opportunity to network with peers, mentors, and national cultural professionals, contribute to advocacy for increased investment in Zimbabwe’s cultural sector, and develop and showcase a project that ignites change.
The deadline for applications is October 3rd, 2025.
