Under the new system, wholesalers and other businesses will pay the same US$20 application fee.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The changes were announced as part of government plans to reduce the costs faced by businesses and make the licensing process easier.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Small and medium-sized businesses are expected to benefit from the lower fees because they often have less money available for licences and other business costs.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The government is also working to reduce the number of licences and permits businesses need. Some licences that cover similar activities will be brought together, while some fees will be removed.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Other changes include the removal of a US$200 permit fee for businesses that sell veterinary products and a US$703 bakery licence fee charged by local authorities. The government also plans to place limits on some local authority charges.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Business groups have welcomed the changes, saying lower fees could help businesses save money and make it easier for more companies to operate legally.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The reforms are part of wider government efforts to improve the business environment and encourage investment in Zimbabwe.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">For businesses that sell alcohol, the new US$20 fee means a much lower cost when applying for a liquor licence.
