The death of Human Rights Commissioner Engineer Martin Muduva has left many people asking.<\/p>\n
The news, which started filtering in early Wednesday, indicates that he died this Wednesday after allegedly succumbing to injuries sustained after he was axed by his wife following an altercation.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The wife then reportedly committed suicide by taking poison.<\/p>\n
Comm Muduva died while admitted at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals.<\/p>\n
Although the details are emerging, it indicates that Comm Muduva was axed twice in Dzivarasekwa Extension on Tuesday night before his wife drank some poison moments later.<\/p>\n
The wife died last night, while Comm Muduva succumbed to the injuries this Wednesday morning after both of them had been taken to the hospital.<\/p>\n
Close sources said Muduva reportedly married his second wife over the weekend, which then triggered a fight.<\/p>\n
Following the fight, the wife attacked him while he was asleep.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe recently graduated with a PhD<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, after the confrontation, Commissioner vabva vaudza mukadzi about her shenanigans.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe felt provoked and then waited for him to sleep. She then took an axe and struck him twice.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe later took poison and died before her husband, who later died at the hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n
Another source said the second wife challenged the first wife.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would go with her to church, we were so close. She told me everything.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am pained,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
In a statement, ZHRC has since sent condolence messages to the Muduva family.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is with profound shock and deep sorrow that the Commissioners and Secretariat of the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) have learnt of the untimely passing on of Commissioner Dr. Eng. Martin Muduva and his wife, who sadly passed away today, 9 September 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe death of Commissioner Muduva is a devastating loss to the Commission and to all those who had the privilege of working with him.<\/p>\n
\u201cCommissioner Muduva was appointed as a Commissioner of the ZHRC on the 19th of December 2024.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince then, Commissioner Muduva has made remarkable contributions to the work and mandate of the ZHRC, particularly by bringing the linkages between human rights and technology,\u201d reads the statement.<\/p>\n
The Commission said Comm Muduva\u2019s commitment to public service and the promotion and protection of human rights and administrative justice will be remembered with profound respect.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe loss of his wife at the same time makes this tragedy even more devastating. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with their children, families, relatives, friends and loved ones during this very difficult time.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the ZHRC family, we mourn together and stand in solidarity with the bereaved families. We pray that they will find strength and comfort during this difficult time,\u201d ZHRC said.<\/p>\n
