{"id":6157,"date":"2026-08-04T17:43:03","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T17:43:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zimdailyjournal.co.zw\/?p=6157"},"modified":"2026-08-04T17:43:03","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T17:43:03","slug":"son-kills-father-over-cigarette","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zimdailyjournal.co.zw\/index.php\/2026\/08\/04\/son-kills-father-over-cigarette\/","title":{"rendered":"Son kills father over cigarette"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>South Africa-Police in Vredefort have arrested a 32-year-old man after he allegedly killed his father over an argument over a cigarette.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The man allegedly killed his 61-year-old father following an alleged assault.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the South African Police Service said that on Sunday, 2 August 2026, at approximately 16:10, Vredefort police responded to a complaint of an alleged assault at a residence in the Mapetla Section of Mokwallo.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival, officers found the 61-year-old victim, identified as Mr Ndode Lenong, lying on a bed with head injuries and a swollen face. Police were informed that he had allegedly been assaulted by his son using an unknown object.<\/p>\n<p>The victim was transported to Parys Hospital before being transferred to a hospital in Bloemfontein for further medical treatment. On Monday, 3 August 2026, at about 09:10, he succumbed to his injuries.<\/p>\n<p>It is alleged that the deceased and his son had argued over a cigarette prior to the assault.<\/p>\n<p>He was arrested at his residence on a charge of murder.<\/p>\n<p>He is expected to appear in the Vredefort Magistrate&#8217;s Court soon.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>South
