<\/p>\nOver 44 inmates at Rusape Remand Prison have been baptised courtesy of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA).<\/p>\n
In a statement, Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) said SDA Rusape Central Church, this Monday, held a graduation and baptism ceremony for inmates at Rusape Remand Prison, where 44 inmates completed the Voice of Prophecy Bible course and were baptised.<\/p>\n

The programme, led by SDA Manicaland Province Publishing Director Cecilia Nyika and SDA Rusape Central Publishing Director Joshua Musiiwa, brought together pastors, church elders and the Prison Charity Committee to support inmate rehabilitation through spiritual development.<\/p>\n

The inmates completed a three-month Bible study programme conducted with the assistance of the station chaplain before receiving certificates during the graduation ceremony.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the first paper bearing my name that did not come from court,\u201d said inmate Kundai Nyamai.<\/p>\n
The church choir, Tsuri Yamangwanani, led worship as correctional officers and inmates joined in gospel songs before 44 inmates underwent baptism by immersion in accordance with SDA doctrine.<\/p>\n
The church also donated buckets, detergent, laundry soap and foodstuffs before sharing a meal with inmates and officers.<\/p>\n
Nyika thanked the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service for facilitating the programme.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we care for inmates, we care for Zimbabwe\u2019s future.\u201d<\/p>\n
Representing the Officer-in-Charge, Chief Correctional Officer Rosemary Mariridza said, \u201cPrograms like this build discipline, prevent negative behaviour, and support the wellbeing of inmates.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is rehabilitation in action.\u201d<\/p>\n
Graduate inmate Kudzanai Chabveka said, \u201cBefore I entered the doors of this prison facility I was a bad person to both myself and the community I lived in.<\/p>\n
