\u2026Responds to non-payment of salaries<\/p>\n
Moonlight Funeral Assurance has expressed its commitment to workers’ welfare through payment of salaries despite allegations raised via social media that the company has not been forthcoming in paying salaries.<\/p>\n
In a statement through Zimbabwe Funeral Services and Assurance Workers Union, the company said that a payment plan was negotiated directly between the employer (Moonlight Provident & Associates) and the Committee.<\/p>\n
The company also said the plan has been honoured by the employer according to the agreed schedule.<\/p>\n
Most employees were informed and raised no objection.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe refer to our earlier complaint dated 5 June 2026 regarding alleged non-payment of salaries at Moonlight Provident & Associates.<\/p>\n
\u201cFurther to subsequent developments and direct engagement with the Workers’ Committee (our legitimate member representatives within the company), we write to provide an updated and corrected position.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Workers’ Committee has since confirmed to us, in writing and through minutes of meetings, that:<\/p>\n
\u201cA payment plan was negotiated directly between the employer (Moonlight Provident & Associates) and the Committee.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe plan has been honoured by the employer according to the agreed schedule.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Committee was consulted at every stage and gave its informed consent to the arrangement through its committee.<\/p>\n
\u201cMost employees were informed and raised no objection,\u201d said the statement.<\/p>\n
Accordingly, ZIMFAWU fully supports the Workers’ Committee’s position and withdraws any earlier implication that the employer acted in persistent bad faith.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe social media post that circulated publicly was not authorised, drafted, or endorsed by ZFAWU.<\/p>\n
\u201cFurthermore, the Workers’ Committee has explicitly stated that they were not consulted prior to that post.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe post appears to have been the unilateral act of an errant individual, whom may no longer be in the company’s employment.<\/p>\n
\u201cZFAWU does not support the use of social media to bypass internal collective bargaining structures, especially when those very structures (the Workers’ Committee) had already reached a resolution.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe employer has honoured the payment plan.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo active employee represented by the Committee remains unpaid beyond the agreed schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n
The company also said, the internal dispute resolution mechanism functioned properly.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe therefore do not seek any penalty, sanction, or compulsory order against Moonlight Provident & Associates.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe consider the matter resolved through good-faith negotiation.<\/p>\n
\u201cZIMFAWU remains committed to orderly collective bargaining.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will encourage all members to raise grievances through the Workers’ Committee and the NEC framework and further discourage unauthorised public statements that misrepresent the collective position.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe shall work with the employer to ensure future salary compliance without resorting to external complaints unless internal channels are genuinely exhausted.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe respectfully are in the process of withdrawing adverse allegations with the NEC and to close the file as resolved by mutual agreement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe therefore are not taking further action against the employer.<\/p>\n
