<\/p>\nHARARE, ZIMBABWE -Almasi Collaborative Arts, a leading arts organisation, has brought together a select group of early and mid-career theater makers for a deep dive into the craft dubbed the Directing & Stage Management Workshop led by US Theater Director, Producer, and Associate Artistic Director, Adam Immerwahr.<\/p>\n
The Directing & Stage Management Workshop, running from April 20 to May 2, brings together a select group of early and mid-career theater makers for a deep dive into the craft.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the organisation confirmed that over the course of two intensive weeks, 18 participants are undergoing rigorous training designed to bridge the gap between creative vision and technical execution.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom mastering blocking and script analysis to navigating the complexities of backstage logistics, the program offers a hands-on environment for artists to refine their leadership skills and professional toolkit.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs one of the key building blocks and development prongs of Africa Voices Now!<\/p>\n
\u201cA Festival of New African Plays, The Directing and Stage Management Workshop furthers Almasi’s Mission of bringing the African Narrative to the global stage through rigorous training of local artists by world-renowned US artists and artistic institutions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Directing & Stage Management Workshop will culminate in a free public showcase of Scenes from the world on the 2nd of May.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gideon Wabvuta, the Programs Director of Almasi, says this about the workshop.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a great pleasure to welcome Mr. Immerwahr back to Zimbabwe for his third visit, where he will be training our Directing and Stage Management artists in the art of helming a production and managing a creative room.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy continuing our collaboration with Mr. Immerwahr, we are strengthening our commitment to cultural exchange as an essential pillar of collaborative development.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis initiative further heightens our focus on capacitating local talent through specialized programming.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis workshop marks the beginning of several training initiatives scheduled for this year, all of which will culminate in the Africa Voices Now Festival-our premier showcase for new and original African plays,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Adam Immerwahr is the Artistic Director of Village Theatre (Issaquah and Everett, WA). Previously, he served as Artistic Director of Theater J, the nation’s premier Jewish theater, where he led an acclaimed fiscal and artistic revitalization.<\/p>\n
He also served as Associate Artistic Director at the Tony Award-winning McCarter Theatre. Throughout his career, Adam has been a champion of new work and inclusive storytelling.<\/p>\n
At Theater J, he launched the Expanding the Canon initiative to commission diverse Jewish playwrights and established the Yiddish Theater Lab.<\/p>\n
At McCarter, his producing credits included the Tony-winning Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike and the original development of Danai Gurira’s Eclipsed.<\/p>\n
As a director, his work has been seen internationally (Zimbabwe), Off-Broadway (The Public Theater), and at major regional theaters including Woolly Mammoth and Cleveland Play House.<\/p>\n
A graduate of Brown University and a Drama League Directing Fellow, Adam has taught at Princeton, Juilliard, and George Washington University.<\/p>\n
