Zimdaily Journal Reporter<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (ZIMURA) is conducting country-wide copyright awareness workshops to help artists understand how to protect their intellectual property.<\/p>\n

The association was in Mutare last Tuesday for a workshop that was oversubscribed.<\/p>\n

ZIMURA executive director Polisile Ncube Chimhini said the workshops will be spread throughout the country as a way to help artists realise the value of their property.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are going to continue with these workshops around the country up to November.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cMusicians should know how to monetise their products, they should know how to monetise their intellectual property so that they make money out of it since its business,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey should be familiar with the digital platforms and intellectual property laws so that when their property is infringed on, they should be able to litigate on the matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cCopyright infringement has been a topical issue and artists should desist from using someone\u2019s property.\u201d<\/p>\n
