The National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) has launched a new rail leisure train service on the Harare to Mutare route.<\/p>\n
This will be running as a special Rail Leisure train service during the 18th Edition of the Sanganai\/Hlanganani\/Kumbanayi Tourism Expo, running under the theme:<\/p>\n
Devolving Sustainable Tourism Development-Our Future, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry (MoTHI) and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA).<\/p>\n
The train has the capacity to ferry 243 passengers.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the company confirmed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe NRZ is currently finalising the refurbishment of coaches to be used for this purpose at its Bulawayo mechanical workshops.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe entire stretch of the railway line between Harare and Mutare has since been fully rehabilitated to provide passengers with smooth rides with breathtaking views of the natural beauty of Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe inaugural luxury train ride to Mutare will depart Harare at 7 am on September 5, the second departure will be on the 7th, and the last train service to Mutare will be on the 9th of September 2025.<\/p>\n
The return trips from Mutare to Harare will be on September 6 and 8, departing at 7 am.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere will also be an overnight trip from Mutare to Harare on September 12 with the train departing at 8 pm.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere will be no train runs on September 10 and 11, as these days are reserved for Mutare excursions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe NRZ will offer local, regional, and international exhibitors, buyers, media, and the people of Zimbabwe an opportunity to experience luxury rail travel, where entertainment will be provided and refreshments served.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fare for each trip is set at US$60 one way, making this an affordable and convenient option for all.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe encourage everyone to take advantage of this new service and look forward to welcoming you on board.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile this undertaking is specifically tailored for the event, the NRZ will explore further collaborations in the aftermath of the expo.\u201d<\/p>\n
