<\/p>\nA student from Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT), Panashe Mwinga, died in a car accident on Thursday evening, the same day she graduated with her first degree.<\/p>\n
She had just received a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Visual and Multimedia Communication.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The graduate was travelling with her family back to Harare after the graduation ceremony when tragedy struck in the Mapinga area, near the Gwebi River.<\/p>\n
Her father, an engineer, was driving the vehicle, and he was accompanied by his wife and their 8-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Minister of External Affairs, Information and Publicity Marlvin Saint Madanda declared September 1 as black day.<\/p>\n
“It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that we inform you of the passing of Panashe Mwinga.<\/p>\n
“She was a gifted young lady who graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual and Communication Multimedia<\/p>\n
“Panashe was involved in a fatal road accident on the evening of 28 August 2025 near Mapinga, close to Gwebi River, while travelling with her sibling and both parents.<\/p>\n
“She sustained serious injuries and despite medical efforts, passed away a few hours after being admitted to Parirenyatwa Hospital.<\/p>\n
“Her body has since been transferred to Nyaradzo Funeral Services for funeral arrangements.<\/p>\n
“Her untimely passing is a profound loss to the university community and to all who had the priviledge of sharing in her journey<\/p>\n
“In honor of her life and in solidarity with the Mwenga Family during this difficult time, we declare the 1 of September 2025, as BLACK MONDAY.<\/p>\n
“We encourage all students to wear black on this day as a sign of collective mourning and respect.<\/p>\n
“May Panashe’s Soul rest in Eternal Peace<\/p>\n
