A Kariba man has been jailed for 12 months after he destroyed his father’s property after he refused to give him money for beer.<\/p>\n
The man, Simbarashe Banda (29), was convicted of malicious damage to property.<\/p>\n
On June 5 in 2023, at Plot 29 Majete’s Farm in Karoi, the offender approached his 65-year-old father, Biggie Banda, demanding money to buy beer.<\/p>\n
When his request was turned down, he retaliated by setting fire to a grass-thatched gazebo at the homestead.<\/p>\n
The fire spread quickly, destroying the gazebo and a garden.<\/p>\n
Family members and other villagers managed to extinguish the fire.<\/p>\n
