The much anticipated Mayor\u2019s Cheer Fund Challenge Soccer tournament has been tentatively set from February 21 to 23 with 8 teams set to compete in the football jamboree.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The eight teams include CAPS United, Dynamos, newly promoted Scottland, Herentals, Division One side Harare City, Simba Bhora, Yadah, and another Division One outfit Mwos.<\/div>\n
City of Harare spokesperson Stanley Gama said the tournament is expected to be one of the biggest football fiestas ever witnessed in Harare.<\/div>\n
The proceeds will go to charity.<\/div>\n
\u201cIt’s going to be a unique tournament which will serve as a season opener to gauge the teams\u2019 preparedness for the upcoming season.<\/div>\n
More importantly, Mayor Cllr Jacob Mafume through his Cheer Fund wants to raise money for the needy.<\/div>\n
\u201cBesides the football, we will have a business exhibition around the venue – Rufaro Stadium where companies will occupy stands to market their products.<\/div>\n
“In the stadium, we will have entertainment from musicians and popular DJs in the country.<\/div>\n
\u201cSo the talent on display will not only be about football but other disciplines like music.<\/div>\n
“We want to make it a massive family gathering,\u201d said Gama who is also chairing the organising committee.<\/div>\n
To make it more exciting, the City of Harare has invited Mwos based in Norton and Simba Bhora housed in Shamva.<\/div>\n
