The Civil Registry Department has appointed B Mpala as acting Registra General until the post is filled.<\/p>\n

The new development comes after, Henry Machiri’s term of office expired.<\/p>\n

Outgoing Registra General Machiri<\/p>\n

Mpala was deputy to Machiri.<\/p>\n

Reports are that Machiri who was appointed to the registra general’s position in 2022 reached his retirement and seem to be adamant to leave office.<\/p>\n

He took over from Clemence Masango and had been the Deputy Registrar General before he was appointed acting Registrar General in 2020.<\/p>\n

Further reports are that Machiri reached retirement age in May 2023.<\/p>\n

“He got one year extension to June 2024 and he applied for another to 31 December the same year which was written final.<\/p>\n

“So on Thursday he locked the office and promised to come back in 5 days.<\/p>\n

“He seem not ready to leave office,” said a source.<\/p>\n

However, in a statement, Secretary for Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Amb RT Faranisi confirmed the appointment of Mpala.<\/p>\n

“Please be advised that you have been appointed to act as Registrar General with effect from 1 January 2025 until the post is substantively filled.<\/p>\n

“I wish you all the best in your new assignment and hope that you continue to benefit from the team spirit within the Civil Registry Department and the Ministry at large.”<\/p>\n
