THE Manicaland Transport Association has called upon authorities to reinstate police high patrols along main routes like Manicaland.<\/p>\n

The accident involved a head-on between Tenda Transport and Phil Phats.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Manicaland Transport Association Chairman Mr Isau Mupfumi expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.<\/p>\n

He also urged drivers to be cautious.<\/p>\n

\u201cI express our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in the tragic road accident along Harare-Mutare Road, involving our members, Tenda Transport and Phil Pats.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cOur hearts go out to all affected by this devastating event. We wish a speedy recovery to the passengers who were injured, and to those who tragically did not survive, may their souls rest in peace.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge all drivers, including those of our association, to drive cautiously and be mindful of the lives they carry.<\/p>\n

\"Transport<\/p>\n

\u201cThe frequent presence of trucks on the Harare-Mutare Road, both day and night, demands utmost care and vigilance.<\/p>\n

We call upon the government to urgently implement plans to refurbish the railway infrastructure, which will help alleviate the heavy truck traffic on this road, making it safer for all.<\/p>\n

We also support the Ministry of Transport\u2019s initiative to organise bus operators into associations, ensuring every operator is accounted for and that driver’s credentials and vehicle conditions are thoroughly documented.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis move towards greater accountability is commendable and will contribute significantly to road safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge the police to reinstate highway patrols along this crucial route.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe presence of highway patrol vehicles is essential in curbing road accidents and maintaining order on the highways.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile static roadblocks are helpful, the continuous presence of highway patrols can deter reckless driving and enhance safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we mourn this tragic event, our association commits to assisting those injured and their families. We will offer our support where it is needed most during this difficult time.<\/p>\n

\u201cTogether, let us strive to bring safety and sanity back to our roads, honouring the memory of those we have lost by preventing future tragedies.\u201d<\/p>\n
