ZIMRA launch taxpayer education campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UNDP, in collaboration with ZIMRA, has launched a Taxpayer Education Campaign to support SDGs.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The initiative is aimed at enhancing media understanding and coverage of tax-related issues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UNDP said the objective of the development is a pivotal step towards achieving Zimbabwe\u2019s Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe campaign aims to educate the public by improving media coverage of tax laws and compliance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBy educating editors and journalists, the campaign seeks to improve public understanding of tax obligations, reduce tax evasion, and ultimately increase government revenue necessary for funding essential public services and infrastructure projects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The campaign kicked off with an editors&#8217; forum on May 28, this year in Bulawayo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis forum gathered editors from Bulawayo and surrounding regions such as Gwanda and Gweru. \u201cThe event provided a platform for in-depth discussions on tax matters and media engagement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt also provided Tax and Customs Education for journalists from June 10-12, in Masvingo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe event will feature workshops and training sessions aimed at educating journalists on the intricacies of tax and customs regulations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEditors and journalists will be equipped with comprehensive knowledge and skills to report accurately on tax and customs issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The initiative will also enhance media coverage of tax matters, thereby improving public understanding and compliance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis will also foster a collaborative relationship between ZIMRA and the media, ensuring consistent and accurate information dissemination.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEncourage a culture of voluntary tax compliance among the public, reducing reliance on enforcement measures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Taxpayer Education Campaign aligns with Zimbabwe\u2019s Vision 2030 and the SDGs, particularly Goal 16, which emphasizes peace, justice, and strong institutions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According
